Have you checked with the production parts vendors in the Links section of this forum? The
1954 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual is readily available from all vendors and
on eBay. This has information on the engines available in 1954.

There was no special book or manual for suburbans (that is why the person had no idea how to help you). This might sound odd and it sure makes it difficult to restore these vehicles. There is a
reprint of a Factory Assembly Manual but it has little Suburban-specific information.
