The 1953 CHEVROLET SERVICE NEWS states with regards to the the new 1954 261 cu. in. Heavy Duty Engine "The same stiffer structure crankshaft of the regular 1954 truck engine [235 cu. in.] is used, providing the same 3 15/16 inch stroke." and later "The connecting rods (on the 261), which have larger sections for increased rigidity and strength [than those used on the 235], retain the same 27 degree oil jet hole for cylinder wall lubrication and use identical insert-type big end bearing and rod caps as the regular production engines."
