Cletis - if that side terminal doesn't go thru the ign sw [as in the factory diagram], the truck will start anytime you push the foot pedal - hooked to the switch, the starter wire only bypasses the resistor when the starter is engaged, as designed, otherwise the resistor supplies the coil
