I have an older 46 style 1 ton with the longer running boards. While not and AD you will definitely need the longer running boards because of the extended wheel base.
Where are you going to get the 9' bed? Just like the running boards I haven't been able to find anyone making them.
Don't know where you're located but my experience is keep and eye on e-bay and craigs list. I've seen several projects cheap that people are giving up on and parting out or selling disassembled. After considering costs of fabrication some of the abandoned projects are cheaper. Unless of course you can do the fabrication yourself.
Keep us posted on your project, we'll be more interested in the results than being upset about the conversion.
