283's are great little motors. The size seems to work real well for creating responsive lite-weight vehicles. If the valves, intake manifold and carb are right it will be a lot of fun to drive around town.

The other side of the coin is that it won't make the power a larger motor will. You must have pretty low gears in the rear right now. If you change to a higher ratio, or an overdrive transmission, you're going to give up some of the responsiveness you currently experience.

Where you will feel that most if going up hills at speed. If running up hills at 75 or 80 is your desire you may want more motor...
