Yes you are absolutely correct !! on a flat bed (or stake truck for that matter) they were the short running boards (I have 2 beautiful ones). I am considering a 9' step-side and these are the long running boards..

So the jig is up - you caught me.... I am seriously considering making my 1952 3809 a 3804 (hope this doesn't upset any bolters)
