I stopped by a cruise night at the Golden Age of Trucking Museum, and a 1955 1st came in. It was driven by the daughter of the original owner. She said it had never been worked on, and the bed boards and bed strips were painted the body color and the bottom of the boards was unpainted.
This goes under the "for whatever it is worth" category.
