The guy I knew had a line of BS about a mile wide, so I always took his word with a big grain of salt! Back in my dirt track days, we used the Muncie box, behind some pretty hot 327's and 350's, usually in 2nd. gear on a 1/4 mile track. On longer tracks, some guys tried to run 3rd. gear, and usually split the case wide open! Putting the load at the center of the case, and getting on and off the throttle would do some serious damage!
