If you remove the four screws holding the two halves together and ever so slightly split the case, you can clock to any position you want.
The brushes are sitting on the slip rings with spring pressure and you don't want to pull the two halves apart far enough for the the brushes to pop off.
If they were to come off, or if you wanted to separate the case enough to look inside and dust out the spiders, sticking it back together again is super simple..so don't get worried.
