Put new points and condenser in the 49 last weekend. First in 5 years. Truck always ran smooth and started fast. Runs smoother now and starts faster. Having said that I don't think I would rule out converting in the future.
Someone said that in the instructions it tells you to keep your old points in the glove box in case.
