Hey 'bolters!
Question:
What would be the correct "operating temperature" for a 1965 GMC 1/2 ton, stock 230 inline 6, 4 speed, with HEI, no A/C.
It currently has an oversize aftermarket 3 row radiator with an 18" electric fan, shrouded and controlled be a 200 degree ON / 180 degree OFF temperature sensor mounted in the water neck. It also has a 180 degree thermostat. The fan cycles on and off accurately and for the most part, unless idling in traffic, stopped or climbing a hil, usually stays in the 180/190 degree range.
I'm asking this just to sure it's set up at the correct "operating range".
Someone mentioned to me that I would be better off with a 185 degree ON / 165 degree OFF sensor, and a 160 degree thermostat...
And the boards thoughts are???
Many thanks, Pete in PA.
