The stock radios shipped with a ignition capacitor and one for the generator. Make sure there is a points condenser either inside the distributor or outside before you go assuming the one on the coil is for the radio- you need one in the circuit somewhere, and with two sets of points there isn't enough room in the dist. body for a condenser.
Could you post a picture? Mine doesn't have covers over the points. You may indeed have a vette distributor.
