Leonard, I bought the 1406 because it was supposed to be calibrated for fuel economy, the 1405 is calibrated for performance. Edelbrock says the 1406 is 2% leaner than the 1405, that doesn't seem like too much difference. They might be the same carb, just different calibrations.
