Best advice I ever got about the small block chevy was to make it breathe! Tighten up the lower end, balance and blueprint, and spend your money on the upper end. Big valves, the right cam, the right valve train, and get lots of air from the carburation to the tailpipe in a nice smooth flow... Just my .02
