When I was still bracket racin' (early '90's), there was a guy with a full bodied '66 Chevelle 2dr HT that would pull the left front tire off the ground
hard every time he launched off the line.
Yes, it was BBC powered. No, it was
not a 454. It was a
396 with oval port heads, HEI and a good cam. 4.11's in the rear (posi of course!) and turbo 400 trans with a stall converter (don't remember what stall speed).
Sounded good with straight pipes........................man, I miss the track
