By the way, I'm not rebuilding the engine. I'm just loosening the caps in order to replace the upper rope seal which is leaking. So my plan is to simply tighten the caps back to spec when I'm done.
On a more positive note, I was pleased that my oil pan and oil pump screen looked pretty clean, more so than I would have expected!
