To what torque should I be tightening the main bearing caps on my '54 235? The service manual is saying 35-45 ft. lbs. (
see here ). On the specification page (
link to page ), the spec is for "Oiled Threads". Why don't they just say "bearing cap bolts" or somthing more clear? What do they mean by "Oiled Threads"? Would it make a difference if the threads were clean and dry?!?
