Rear Axle: posi-traction with a .300 gear. (when ya turn one wheel and the other wheel turns on it's own - with both wheels in the air, that's a posit, right?)

I went to the FAQ section of the West Coast Differentials Website and I surfed over there to the Tech Information / FAQs area and read about how to figure this stuff out.

----

ok, so what were the options for gear ratios in 1965? I've read about a 3.08 rear gear - which maybe that is what I have since I haven't popped the diff cover off. I've been flippin' around in my '63 and '65 shop manuals and I have not found anything yet about what was offered or available... tho' it is possible I'm looking int he wrong sections....

Now, what about the rear end gear oil? What is the modern stuff you should use? If I roll up to the modern day parts store and need a new rear end diff cover gasket... what do I tell them I need? How often should the gear oil be changed?

Thanks.
