If you already purchased the chrome rings, they will work ok. The cast rings seat better and don't take any miles to seat. The story I always heard years ago was, if you wanted to keep the rings from wearing, use the chrome ones. If you wanted the block to keep from wearing, use the cast ones. I use cast rings in racing motors and they never smoke from the first time the engine is fired up. My opinion is, if you are above 100,000 miles after the rebuild, ring type might matter, but then look at the factory engines that run over 200,000 miles without a rebuild. Guess it is the same decision type as, what color should I paint my truck.
