I have not watched the links to youtube above, but I sure learned to like pounding tin when doing my 46. I had a a rear fender that I was sure was junk. It took me several weeks, but I was able to knock all the dents out, straighten out some kinks and repair some rips and tears. I had a better welder than I finish off the rip and tear repair. It was good fun. Biggest thing I can think of is go slow and be very patient with the dinging hammer and dolly. I did my dent work for about an hour at a time. The tear repair took even longer to line up and fix. Good luck and have fun.
Also, I would not junk any steel body parts from your truck. Since steel is so hard to find for our trucks, much of it can be repaired regardless of condition.
