My 49 1 ton has what I am told is a rear axle, hubs and drums from a 73-74 3/4 ton Chevy pickup.
I think the axle seals are leaking and I need to pull the hub&drum. I removed the hubcab and it was full of oil, confirming the outer seal is leaking. I have oil drips from the bottom of the brake drum which make me think the inner axle seal or possibly the wheel cylinder is leaking. I pulled the wheel drive shaft and the hub/drum turns freely, but will not come off with a puller. Is there a retaining nut that holds the wheel bearing in that needs to come off and if so how do you do this? Does it require a special tool? As always, I am a novice and sincerely appreciate any responses and help!
