Kedso said it could be due to excessive end play in the main transmission shaft. I have another symptom.
I use the granny gear for a parking brake on our slightly sloped driveway. When I depressed the clutch and moved the shifter to neutral, it stayed in gear. Does this also say "excessive end play?" Thanks!! (We're leaving for the salt chuck for several weeks so I'll add the tranny advice to my to-do list.) 1948 3/4-Ton 5-Window Flatbed Chevrolet 34 Years.
