I think that some S10s that had the big V6 used a T5 with a regular Chevy bolt pattern. The small V6 and 4s have a different pattern. I put one of the latter in my '53 Chevy 1/2 ton with a 270 GMC in it. I made a 3/8 adapter plate, had to change the clutch plate, and build a rear mount. With truck length shifter the pattern is wide. I'm working on that. It was not as easy as I thought it would be as the top tranny bolts are too near the original holes. If you use the V8-big V6 T5 it will bolt up but you have to shorten the input shaft 3/8". Also you must use an S10 rear housing or your shifter will be in your seat. Well, not yours but your truck's. If your 3 speed OD is a Saganaw and it works I'd keep it. If it doesn't work I'd fix it. There are several different 3 speed ratios. You can also put that OD on a Saganaw 4 speed. Hot Rod magazine May 1970, I think, had an article. Mine works well but I wouldn't do it again. By the way if yours is a Saganaw 3 speed OD and you decide to replace it I'd like to buy it OD working or not. Good luck!
