It's been some time since I installed my CPP 5 lug front disc brake kit on my 54 but if I remember correctly, the INSTALLATION sheet specified that the steering stop should be removed.

I've used a number of their products and haven't had any problems with installation. I assume they're still putting installation instruction sheets in with their products.
