For what it's worth, a few years ago I got to the point where I was sick and tired of fighting with come-alongs so I treated my self to setting up my trailer right.
here are a couple shots of my set up It's a 9,000 lb Superwinch that I can mount on the front of the gooseneck with a receiver hitch I had my Mennonite welder neighbor install for me. Heaviest thing it's pulled up on the trailer is a
dead '50 Mack pumper truck. She creaked and groaned, but she got it up on the trailer (I used the snatch block!).
Moving equipment for my Mennonite neighbors has more than paid for both the winch AND the trailer.
