Since it sounds like you're not interested in keeping the dual rear wheels, the 9 inch should have enough load-carrying capacity for a bastardized truck. The main problem would be the number of lug bolts, unless you also plan to swap the front suspension system to 1/2 ton. What's the gear ratio of the proposed donor rear end?
