I have a 1946 1/2 ton with a 216. Original engine, carb, intake setup as far as I know. My question is this. Where does the throttle cable attach to the carb linkage. I am referring to the throttle knob for increasing idle inside the cab. It appears it might go to the linkage underneath the carb located between the carb and firewall side. However, if I 'hook' the cable up here, won't it push the knob out when I accelerate? Did it originally have some sort of 'slip mechanism' that would allow you to pull the knob to increase idle, but not affect the knob when the gas pedal was pushed? Any help is appreciated.
