I just went and check my 52 GMC. It appears to be like everyone elses. Lever on the left side and no connection to the right. It doesn't look like there is a place for a connecting rod. I think my tracks will move though if I really tried. I had all that out some time back and I think it was mobile then. I am to big to move the seat froward any so it stays back. Even if I was still at "high school" weight I don't think I would ever need it forward! Also mine does not have the spring as Tim's pictures show. Probably got lost over the years.
