I don't know if I would call that "Chinese garbage" but offered new these days are modern radios that look fairly authentic when they are installed. This is definitely the case for the 47 to 53 truck radio.
Now if you want an original radio, they are not generally offered in quantity because they haven't been made for years. Probably what you need to do is contact one of the vendors that offers restoration services and see if they have one. There is one vendor that has radio hints, in the tech section. You could also look to buy one and have it restored.
