Mohogany is a woodcarvers dream because it is easy to carve i.e. soft, but it looks gorgeous when finished. If I had the money I would use teak. Teak is hard as a rock and has a lot of natural oil and silica in it which helps it stand up to water. Give me a boat made from teak any day.
