It is definitely a 265...casting number 3703524.
Has the water neck mounted oil filter.
I just pulled it out of a '55 6400, and believe it is original to the truck.
My dad who is a '55 nut gave me the same info as you just did.
He didn't have his truck book with him though...it's at another residence far away.
Also...this engine is painted yellow, and I believe it's factory. I know leftover '56 265's that were used in '57 got
painted yellow, but I thought I read somewhere about some truck engines being yellow as well.
Update: After a little research I found that the the 1955 Taskmaster 265 was painted yellow. The Trademaster 265 was painted gray.
