If the DA plug is on the periphery of the case, then yes, it's internally regulated. The tabs will look like this --, and should be marked 1 & 2. Wire #1 will go to a switched (key) source of power and wire #2 will tie into the system to monitor voltage...this is easily accomplished by wrapping it around to the large BATT lug.
