Wow, two month stovebolter and I already know some asnwers.
The torque tube has a shaft within a tube, there is no moving parts visible.
An open driveshaft has the turning shaft out in the open and you can see it turn when the truck moves.
The former is actually akin to a propeller shaft and so named in the shop manual.
