I'd say "Buy It"! Sounds like it has good bones! Besides, the price is great!

IMHO, I'd go the stock route. Don't chop it up. I think you would have a better end value if you kept it closer to stock. I wouldn't want to ruin a "50 year old classic truck". As I said...just my opinion.
