Funny you should bring this up now--I'm in the middle of a clutch job on my 63 pickup. The manual I have says there should be 1/8 to 1/4 inch between the TO bearing and the diaphragm fingers, which is equal to about 3/4 to 1 inch of movement at the pedal. Hope this helps you.
