Mounting the carb flange "level" will give you a 3 degree angle needed at the tailshaft of the transmission which is correct. Check your factory engine and you will see that the carb flange is level from front ot back and side to side. Even though driving up and down for a few hundred yards will not make a noticeable difference it will on a normal long straight a way. Do it the correct way and mount that carb flange level, front to back and side to side.
