Turns out it had the square hole, they all have a square hole. When I got mine apart the speedo driven gear was broken at the shaft and not turning. Unfortunantlly I broke the housing sleeve while removing it. I found a website, PATC that had a calculator for the speedo gear that accounted for wheel diameter rear end ratio, and tranny. The only other variable I don't know about is the speedometer ratio. Is it 1000 revolutions per mile? I ordered an aluminum housing sleeve and correct 44T gear so we'll see if I can get it together.
