Not clear Tim, on what you mean by, "if the truck color was ordered from the factory." Weren't all the trucks painted at the factory??? Or do you guys mean if it was ordered with special paint from the factory it may not have a stripe? According to the 1950 resto pack, all the cabs were striped at the belt line.
As far as the wheel stripes go, the resto pack is pretty definitive in its description of which ones had stripes and just how many they had, pages 68-69. Looks like the only ones that had three stripes were the 6.00-16 Reg, 6.70-15 RPO 3100’s. The 15” 3600, 3700 Reg and 3100 RPO had none. And in the 17” 3800, 3900 Reg and 3600, 3700 RPO they had two. In the big trucks, 3800, 3900 RPO Dual with 18” and 4000, 5000, 6000 Single or Dual 20”, they also had none.
What got me goin on this is thread over on the VCCA chat II about the same thing, so I hope I’m keeping it all straight as to who I’m conversing wit!
I think I’m pretty clear now as to what my 1950, 3604 truck with the standard paint option 234G, Mariner Blue, should look like. It will have the Medium Cream 1/8” stripe on the belt line and black 15” 2pc wheels with no stripe, 7.00-15 tires. Outer grill will be the truck color with Waldorf White inner grill. That orta pretty much take care of it and I doubt if any of those there VCCA perfectionists will be able to pick away at the way she’s made up. Still fighting that engine color though Chevs of the 40's went and changed there paint supplier to Hirsch and it's to light. They had it right with the Krylon formula but they just had to change it.
