I was checking him out (54 3100 1/2 ton 235 stock) before a run to work and stuck my finger into the radiator, and my finger nudged something metal. I moved my finger around and the metal piece moved as well. It definately is not attached in the top in any way, and is too large to come out of the cap opening. It appears to be a tube that is round at one end and flattened towards the other end. This is the original radiator, so I'm told by the PO. I'm thinking it might have been a radiator hose neck but both top and bottom necks appear to be originals. What the heck could this be, and should I be concerned about radiator fluid flow and obstruction. By the way I have no leakes and he runs cool as a cucumber, even in August.
Thanks!
