Sorry Timmer...I shouldn't try to type or think so near to bedtime.
I should have typed "split part" and by that I meant the fact that the front 3 cylinders make up one "header" and the rear 3 make up another. Trying to juggle the two headers and the intake manifold by yerself can be a bit of a pain...especially for an old man who had open heart surgery 5 months ago.
I DO run dual exhaust and they don't have an H pipe...or any other crossover.
I run Cherry Bomb glasspacks and they have the traditional six-banger rap to them. My pipes exit in front of the rear wheels, but running them all the way out the back shouldn't change the sound much. It's louder than a lot of people like....but I'm partial to loud exhaust. Must be some fundamental flaw in my character or something...but who cares, huh?
The sound is really nice...but it gets a whole lot better when the secondaries on the carb open up. Then it gets a LOT louder.
I hope this answers the question a little better. And I wish ya a lotta luck buildin a 292 screamer. I always thought that a 292 and a Muncie 4-speed would make a kool combo in a 62-65 Nova. Hey...I just happen to have a 63 Nova with a 4-speed...maybe I otta....oh, never mind.
