Hi All,

I have been reading Chilton Repair Manual in my spare time and have a question that has always bugged me:

What is the definition of a "turn" in degrees?

Is one full turn 360 degrees or 180? Half a turn 180 degrees or 90? A quarter turn 90 degrees or 45?

For instance, in setting the idle speed on a Rochester BV carb, "Turn the idle screw slightly to seat, and then back out 1 1/2 turns" ... "adjust the mixture screw to obtain a 20 rpm drop, then back out screw 1/4 turn". On hydraulic valves, "when all play has been removed, turn the adjusting nut in 1 full turn"

When I turn a screwdriver, wrench or ratchet I consider one physical turn equal to 180 degrees. Am I totally offbase on this? Any input? Am I thinking too hard on this subject? Thanks!
