Welding the spiders can be done, but I would not reccomend it. First off, it'll make the rear act as if it had a spool in it, very bad for street driving as it will not allow for any differential action. There's also the chance of failure of the welds if not done properly, which will lead to differential failure. Leave the welded spisers to the budget off roaders/truck pullers.
