I just got the new side cover installed on the '56 3-speed tranny. I got the shift linkage hooked up, everything adjusted correctly in the neutral position. Then this is where the problem comes in.

The 2nd/3rd shift rod is hitting the clutch fork and will not allow it to shift into gear. The clutch pedal is adjusted correctly for free play and thus there is not enough clearance for the shift rod.

Am I doing something wrong or do I just need to bend the shift rod to give me the clearance that I need?? Wanted to ask for advice/suggestions before I make the problem worse.

Thanks in advance for any help,
