I'm having the same problem with a '54 235. I found a missing heat riser spring, replacing that helped some. I also found a small leak at gas tank fitting. I ran mine 80 miles at 65 mph, drove through Dallas and it ran like a charm with a good steady idle, but when it's at operating temp it doesn't like to restart unless choked, a deft pump on the throttle or starting fluid. This is my last big glitch in a year long project of swapping out the old 3 speed for a 5 speed, a new rear end, open drive shaft, disk brakes, shoulder harness, etc.
