What exactly is the benefit of using an alternator instead of a generator? I'm planning a 235/Saginaw upgrade for my truck and I'm just exploring my options. I know the consensus is that an alternator is "better" than a generator but I want to know why.
I don't intend to drive it a lot and I like the idea of keeping it looking as original as possible because I do want to start taking it to shows and whatnot.
