Alot will depend on what engine and computer engine manegement system you'll be using. Some only require 1, in which case only the 1 will be needed. But some (especially newer systems) will use separate sensors for both sides, or even before and after sensors (4 total) on the cat(s) to monitor the system. make sure of what the system you're using requires.
