The bronze bushing will usually go in the spring eye it's self, the opposite end of the shackle, as the shackles are the threaded type.
The service manual will help a lot with these types of questions.
Please correct me if this info is wrong for 1/2 tons, I speak from experience with the bigger trucks only.
