Okay, now I understand. What you want are semi-tubular rivets and a hand setting (clinching) tool. There are a lot of places on the Internet that sell this stuff, but it's frustrating trying to find one that not only has what you need but is willing to sell small quantities AND let you order on-line.

McMasters But your best bet would be to find a brick and mortar place where you can go and see before you buy. Good luck, I'm struggling with the same dilemma and determined NOT to give in to the screw, washer, and nut easy way out.
