Respectfully have to disagree with you.
I know the military calls something a 1.25 ton if it can carry 2500 additional pounds of payload (i.e. M880). However, civilians call it a strong 1/2 ton or a weak 3/4 ton. I used to own a S10 rated to haul 1000 lbs. It was NOT a 1/2 ton, but commonly called a 1/4 ton. I've got a 1958 model 38. I've got a little more than 2 ton's carrying capacity. It's a 1 ton.
Based upon your logic, 379MV6's Mack B61 would be considered about a 50 ton truck?
