Pertronix technical people told me about the voltage suppression devices over the phone.
I have used a 12v unit on my 261 for 5 years and a 6v unit on my 235 for 1 year (with points in the glove compartments). No problems yet (good wiring but unknown quality 12v alternator and 6v generator/regulator).
Both start first-time, every time (unless the engine is hot).
